DREAM FACTORY

"Dream Factory" is the title of the intervention by Vittorio Zeppillo: a site-specific installation, urated by Benedetta Monti and Niccolò Giacomazzi, that translates the dimension of ambiguity into aesthetic terms, as is typical of the visual research conducted by the artist.

The work consists of multiple material elements and a motorized system that generates continuous movement, a veritable stage machine that animates the work with a constant "breath." The composition suggests the idea of a human presence, as if there were a living body hidden by a blanket and caught in the performance of mysterious acts, which the visitor can only imagine by completing the script of this story on their own.

There are multiple possible interpretations; the most immediate one connects the silhouette evoked by the work to the urban context, suggesting the existence of a body seeking shelter in the niche of the window, almost as if it were a homeless person in search of rest, an intimacy violated by the obligatory voyeurism to which the observer is subjected. The play of movements makes observation uncomfortable, aiming to disturb the audience, inviting them to immerse themselves in the whirlwind of free associations that can arise during what seems like a theater of the ambiguous.

Vittorio Zeppillo, born in San Severino nelle Marche in 1998, currently lives in Milan, where he attends the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. In 2019, he co-founded the collective Hardchitepture with Andrea Luzi and Lorenzo Conforti. He is a co-organizer of the "I Fumi della Fornace" festival in Valle Cascia (MC) (2019). In 2021, he obtained a Bachelor's degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, specializing in Decoration under the guidance of Gabriele Arruzzo. He secured the first position in the Marche region in the "Utopie di Bellezza" award with a collective exhibition at Palazzo Bisaccioni, the headquarters of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Jesi. Among his recent exhibitions are: "Hyperballad," a two-person show with Davide Quartucci curated by Benedetta Monti, Officine Brandimarte, Ascoli Piceno (2023); "Sottosopra," a group exhibition curated by Giulia Carpentieri, Palazzo Bronzo, Genoa (2023); "Saloon Palermo," a group exhibition curated by Antonio Grulli and Francesco De Grandi, Rizzuto Gallery, Palermo (2022); "Picnic sul ciglio della strada," a group exhibition curated by EXIT, Adiacenze, Bologna (2022); "SSSST…," a festival of workshops and performative practices curated by EXIT, Prati di Caprara, Bologna (2022); "When Urban Attitude Become Form," a group exhibition curated by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi, 21 gallery, Treviso (2021); "Curatela offresi," curated by Arianna Desideri, Spazio In Situ, Rome (2021).

We would like to thank the Fondazione Comunitaria della Provincia di Lodi onlus for the financial contribution aimed at supporting Vittorio Zeppillo's exhibition project.
